tamer-hosni2Tamer donates Dubai concert’s revenue to Gaza

Singer Tamer Hosni has decided to donate the income of his upcoming concert in Dubai to the victims of Gaza.

“This is to support the people of Gaza. We shouldn’t stand still and watch what’s happening to them,” Hosni said oi a phone call to ‘El-Qahera El-Youm’ television program. “This is the least a singer could offer them in this situation.”

The gig, which is part of Dubai’s 2009 Tourism and Shopping festival, will take place next Friday.

In other news, Rotana magazine reports that Hosni denied accusations that superstar Amr Diab has anything to do with the death threats he’s been receiving.

“These claims are completely ridiculous. If these messages are sent from another singer that’s afraid I’m affecting his career, then it definitely can’t be Amr Diab,” Hosni told Rotana.

koblat-star-yousra-el-louziSaleh: “Koblat” director misunderstood me

Writer and critique Ahmed Saleh has broken his silence about his movie “Koblat Masrouka”, which brewed up a storm after its premiere a couple of months ago.

The film was directed by Khaled El-Hagar and hosted numerous intimate scenes.

“The version that people watched had precisely 104 kisses, the screenplay I’d written had only four. El-Hagar overcame “Abi Fawk Al-Shagar’s 101 kisses,” Saleh told Egyptian daily Al-Masry Al-Youm.

“Obviously, El-Hagar totally misunderstood me and my movie. When I wrote “Koblat Masrouka”, it was all about the emotional side, not the physical side, and when I objected he said that it was his job and that every romantic scene had to end with a kiss,” he added.

Saleh also revealed that he had to ask for Egyptian censor Ali Abu-Shadi to prevent the film from being release until after the deletion of some of the scripts “unacceptable” language.

Al-Saher defends new album delay

Iraqi singer Kazem Al-Saher has defended his decision to delay his new album several times, stressing that he is concerned about quality more than the release date.

The album is set to hit the market before the end of September, several months later than scheduled.

“I am the main reason behind the delay,” Al-Saher said during a press conference. “I delivered a copy to (production company) Rotana but pulled it back again because I was too worried about the quality of music.”

Al-Saher also said that he has been travelling a lot lately, which put an additional pressure on him.

“All the band members were travelling to several Arab countries as well. I couldn’t finish without them.”
